Super Bowl 46, Patriots vs Giants: Team Trends Analysis

February 01, 2012

Although the Patriots have a much stronger regular season  record than the Giants in the this season, all regular season  performances seem to get thrown out the window in the  playoffs.

The Pats have a winning record in the playoffs, but have done abysmally ATS, and have lost some big games in the past. One of these games was the 2007 Super Bowl, but they have also been upset by the Jets and the Ravens, exiting the playoffs earlier than expected.

The Giants have gone the other way, and been electric in the post season. They have delivered a slew of upsets to extremely good teams, and this is reflected in their ROI, the highest of any team in the playoffs. They are 7-1 ATS in the past 5 years, and have won as the underdog in all but one of their playoff games since 2006! Will they be able to maintain this hot streak as the underdog and hoist the Lombardi again?
